e-skin® cleanroom energy chains

Advantages of the e-skin compared to conventional corrugated hoses:

The e-skin is a hose consisting of an upper and lower shell that form a sealed tube when connected to each other. It consists of igumid SK, a polymer material developed specifically for this. The simple and reclosable opening mechanism enables easy maintenance and inspection of the installed cables. Operating temperature +10°C / +50°C.

Typical applications: Fast, short, unsupported applications, standing and hanging applications, pick & place applications, printers, medical technology and all machines where corrugated tubes are used, display and semiconductor production

Technical details

Commercially available corrugated hose

igus e-skin

Corrugated tubes have consistently the same bending radius

e -skin consists of two shells (top/bottom) . The movement can be defined by configuring the shells.

Corrugated hoses have little or no inherent rigidity. e-rib is

different

e-skin is suitable for short unsupported lengths in a small installation space (2) and has a defined bend radius (5)

No/little stability in case of applied lateral force

Lateral stability thanks to the oval (6) geometry of the e-skin

Corrugated hoses can not be used unsupported

e-skin® supports itself and can be used for short unsupported lenth

Corrugated hoses (for dynamic applications) can not be opened

e-skin® can be opened, easy to fill

The interior of the hose can not be devided

e-skin® can be equipped with an interior seperation

In the video, we show you how quickly the upper and lower shells of the e-skin can be opened and closed for easy filling.

Tested in the igus test laboratory for use in the real world

Continuous test

Developed for cleanroom applications, the e-skin has been tested under real conditions with 6.4 million double strokes at 3m/s in the laboratory.

Bending test

The standard bending tests show how flexible the e-skin soft is. It only bends, even under loads that would break other energy chains.

Noise level measurement

This test shows how quiet 'e-skin' corrugated tubes and 'e-skin flat' cleanroom cables are. Compared to the e-skin corrugated tubes, the noise level of e-skin flat cleanroom cable is only 29dB(A).
