Go to application

The company Four Stars Engineering based in Bad Camberg manufactures testing machines for quality control in the electronics industry. There are several machine types, which differ significantly in size and functionality. Depending on the PCB to be tested, other factors are taken into account. Thanks to the wide range of machines, it is possible to test several thousand circuit boards around the world reliably and without manual effort.

The problem

The work of machine tending is generally a very monotonous process. The global demand for circuit boards is increasing every year. This also increases the production and quality demands on the manufacturers. In order to be able to offer marketable quantities, an automated solution is required here. In addition, circuit boards of all kinds are very sensitive components, which must be protected from damage caused by manual handling.

The solution

Thanks to the modular system, a customised articulated arm robot could be constructed with RL-D joints, which was adapted to both the installation space and the required flexibility in the movement sequences. Standard solutions were always associated with limitations. Another feature of the solution is the absence of lubricants, which was a decisive criterion when handling circuit boards.
