Components for facade technology

Whether composite fronts made of aluminium or suspended glass facades - the demand for a high level of functionality, technology and quality in modern buildings is increasing continuously: greater energy efficiency, modern design, longer maintenance-free service life with falling costs. More and more mobile facade elements are being used, and environmental influences pose a major challenge to the corrosion and weathering resistance of the materials. With our plain and spherical bearings, we offer components made from high-performance polymers for indoor and outdoor use. They are ideal for slat supports in exterior facades and can be installed dry and without additional lubrication at temperatures of between -30°C and +80°C.

Success stories

Arcora sun protection slats

Durable bearing technology in an innovative sun protection facade system

The French company Arcora has developed a sustainable, innovative sun protection system that doesn't require the usual motorisation. Our plain and spherical bearings as well as our linear guides are used in the interfaces between the moving and fixed elements.
Sun protection slats E.ON technical centre

Maintenance-free plain bearings for 1,028 sun protection slats in the E.ON technical centre

To keep the workload as low as possible after installation of the exterior facade, maintenance-free bearing technology was needed at the vertical slat pivot points. iglidur J plain bearings were chosen because of their incorporated solid lubricants, which allow optimal coefficients of friction in the long term - without relubrication.

Tested in the igus test laboratory for use in the real world

Tested for continuous load, media resistance and quiet operation

In the industry's largest plastics test laboratory, iglidur plain bearings, drylin linear technology and igubal coupling joints are put through their paces. The focus is on testing assemblies and examining the tribological specifications of different material combinations. The results are integrated into our service life calculation tools and allow precise durability predictions.

Upon request, igus performs customer tests to check product use under specific conditions.
