iglidur A350 plain bearings are made for practically all loads occurring in food and packaging machinery. Even high loads, often seen in lifting equipment, are taken easily and the bearings work flawlessly without any external lubrication.

The temperature resistance makes iglidur A350 the ideal material for plain bearing in the food sector. Additional safety device is required at temperatures above +140°C. The wear rate of the iglidur A350 plain bearing increases only slightly at higher temperatures. Tests have shown good wear results at temperatures of +100°C on all shaft materials tested.

iglidur A350 plain bearings are well suited for low and medium speeds in both rotating and oscillating applications. The wear rates are similar, so there is no preferred type of movement. Linear movements can also be supported well with iglidur A350. At high surface speeds, it should be checked whether iglidur J or iglidur L250 can be used, as the wear rate of these bearings is lower.

X = surface speed [m/s]
Y = pressure [MPa]
The maximum recommended surface pressure is a mechanical material parameter. Conclusions about the tribology cannot be drawn from this. The compressive strength of iglidur A350 plain bearing decreases with increasing temperatures. Diagram 02 illustrates this relationship. Diagram 03 shows how iglidur A350 deforms elastically under radial load. Under the maximum surface pressure of 60MPa, the deformation is less than 5%.
The coefficients of friction of iglidur A350 against steel is in a medium range (diagrams 04 and 05).
Coefficient of friction for iglidur A350 against steel (Ra = 1μm, 50 HRC):
| iglidur A300 | dry | Greases | Oil | Water |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coefficient of friction µ | 0.1 - 0.2 | 0.09 | 0.04 | 0.04 |
Corrosion-fee steels are naturally more suitable for use in the food industry. The tests were therefore carried out on such materials in particular. It has been shown that there is no clear favourite and that 304 SS, high grade steel and hard chrome-plated steel are all suitable. Hard anodised aluminium is also well suited for both linear and rotating movements.
iglidur A350 plain bearings are resistant to diluted acids and alkalis, alcohols and cleaning agents. They are also resistant to most lubricants. iglidur A350 plain bearings are resistant to common cleaning agents used in the food industry. iglidur A350 is attacked by esters, ketones, chlorinated hydrogens, aromatics and highly polar solvents.

The moisture absorption of iglidur A350 is low and can be neglected when using the standard plain bearing. Even when fully saturated, iglidur A350 does not absorb more than 1.9% water.

iglidur A350 plain bearings are standard bearings for shafts with h-tolerance (recommended at least h9). The bearings are designed for the press-fit in a housing with H7 tolerance. After installation in a housing with nominal dimension, the inner diameter of the bearings with F10 tolerance adjusts itself automatically.
