Silent operation in Hamburg's miniature wonderland

An E2/000 e-chain from the 255 series is used in the new model airport "Knuffingen Airport", a replica of Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport and part of the neighbouring Lufthansa hangar in the Hamburg Miniatur Wunderland. On an area of 150m2, 360 take-offs and landings of almost 40 different aircraft can be seen every day. The aircraft lift provides the connection between the different runway levels and the floors below.

The so-called take-off and landing catapult is powered by two reverse installed E2/000 e-chains from the 255 series, which were installed in a <a 0="[" 1="o" 2="b" 3="j" 4="e" 5="c" 6="t" 7=" " 8="O" 9="b" 10="j" 11="e" 12="c" 13="t" 14="]" href="/en-en/website/service/project-planning/products/gliding-long-travels" uuid="ab6577e4-c705-479f-90d2-c856fb90b662" target="_self">super aluminium trough with silencer profile. The reason for using the energy chain was its small pitch, which resulted in a very small polygon effect when it rolled along the radius. Furthermore, a very quiet solution was required. The e-chains' operation should not be heard, which is why the silencer profile was used in the guide trough.
